Porto Today
A paper-costume cortejo winds through Foz do Douro this morning, the Book Fair fills the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal all day, and a religious procession closes several streets around Livraria Lello and Clérigos this evening. The weather stays cooperative – partly cloudy, 15–22.5°C, with no warnings in force across the district.
Anyone planning a swim should steer clear of Matosinhos, Cabo do Mundo and Marreco, where contamination alerts remain active, while Leixões sees no cruise-ship call today. On transport, the metro is running its normal summer timetable with no strike, though CP's onboard-bar staff begin an open-ended walkout tomorrow.

The IPMA city forecast for Porto gives a minimum of 15.0°C and a maximum of 22.5°C, partly cloudy with a 20% chance of precipitation and a moderate northwest wind, issued at 09:31 local time. District warnings are green as of 07:30 – no rain, wind, heat, fog or coastal warning in force. A national IPMA briefing published two days earlier still allowed for light rain or drizzle on the North/Centre coast into the afternoon, and morning mist inland, with Porto given as 23°C/15°C in that outlook.

A costumed cortejo, a citywide book fair and an evening procession
Cortejo dos Trajes de Papel, Foz
From 10:30 to 13:00, around 700 figurants parade for the São Bartolomeu festival under the theme "Fábulas e Lendas." The route starts on Rua das Sobreiras, passes a tribune at Esplanada do Castelo around 12:30, and ends at Praia do Ourigo around 13:00 with the traditional banho santo sea-bath. Expect crowds along Passeio Alegre.
Feira do Livro do Porto
The free book fair runs 21 August to 6 September at the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, open today 11:00–21:00 with 144 stands. Sunday's programme includes Porta-Jazz at 12:00, João Grosso at Capela Carlos Alberto from 16:00, Mimi Froes at 19:00 on the Concha Acústica, and a staged reading of António Lobo Antunes at 21:00. Pets are not allowed in the gardens, except assistance dogs.
Festas do Senhor da Boa Fortuna procession
The evening procession moves through the Vitória area and the historic centre from 17:00 to 19:00, with temporary road closures next to Livraria Lello and Clérigos.

Under the Câmara's order, with PSP / Polícia Municipal escort, the following streets close from 17:00 to 19:00: Rua de São Bento da Vitória; Rua dos Caldeireiros (between S. Bento da Vitória and Rua do Arquitecto Nicolau Nazoni); Rua do Arquitecto Nicolau Nazoni; Rua das Carmelitas (between Nicolau Nazoni and Rua de S. Filipe de Nery); Rua de S. Filipe de Nery; Campo dos Mártires da Pátria (between S. Filipe de Nery and Rua das Taipas); Rua das Taipas (between Campo dos Mártires da Pátria and Rua de S. Miguel); and Rua de S. Miguel.
Congestion elsewhere
Foz will be busy this morning around Sobreiras, Passeio Alegre, Senhora da Luz and Praia do Ourigo (roughly 10:30–13:00), and the Palácio de Cristal gardens are busy all day with the Book Fair. At Leixões there is no ocean-liner call today – Saturday had Azamara Quest, and Monday lists Celebrity Eclipse from 08:00 to 18:00.

APA InfoÁgua still lists active microbiological-contamination alerts, within the 13 June–13 September bathing season, for Matosinhos (Norte, Centro and Sul), Cabo do Mundo and Marreco. Pastoras, in the Foz sector, is flagged separately for ongoing works.
Leça da Palmeira & Foz beaches
Leça da Palmeira has no active alert: its last analysis, on 18 August, was adequate, its annual classification is Excellent, it holds a Blue Flag and has a lifeguard, with water temperature at 18.9°C. Agudela, Memória and Quebrada have been restored to normal status. In Foz, Luz, Ingleses, Ourigo and Carneiro are not on the current alert list, aside from the works notice at Pastoras – Ourigo is also the sea-bath site for today's cortejo around 13:00.

Landmarks & museums
Livraria Lello (Rua das Carmelitas 144) is open 09:00–19:30 with a ticket voucher required, and sits directly on this evening's procession route. Clérigos runs its summer hours of 09:00–23:00 (last entry 30 minutes before close), with the day pass for tower and museum 09:00–19:00 (€10, students €7, under 10 free), a night tower slot 19:00–23:00 (€5), and Sunday Mass at 21:30. The Igreja / Museu de São Francisco keeps its summer ticket office open 09:00–20:00 every day from April through September. Palácio da Bolsa runs guided visits 09:00–18:30 (about 30 minutes, in Portuguese, Spanish, French or English), with its shop open 09:00–19:00. The Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis (Rua de D. Manuel II 44) is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–18:00, last entry 17:30; general admission is €10, free for Portuguese citizens and residents with ID and tax number, up to 52 visits a year.
Gaia & the riverfront
The Teleférico de Gaia runs its high-season hours, 10:00–20:00 daily through 24 September; a one-way adult ticket is €7 (child €3.50), return €10 (child €5). Taylor's cellars on Rua do Choupelo in Vila Nova de Gaia keep the caves open 10:00–18:15 and the tasting room 10:00–19:30, daily. Serralves is running its summer ticket campaign from 3 August to 30 September, but its free entry day is the first Sunday of the month – that falls on 6 September, not today.

Metro running normally, no train strike today, CP bar staff walk out tomorrow
Metro & airport transfers
Metro do Porto lines A through F are all showing normal service, running summer timetables in force since 20 July, with no strike declared for today. Line E to the airport is operating normally, and there is no ANA disruption notice for Porto Airport today. On STCP's published typical hours, buses 601 and 602 run Cordoaria–Airport roughly every 25 minutes from about 05:30 to 00:30, bus 604 runs São João–Airport roughly every 30 minutes from about 06:00 to 21:00, and the night bus 3M runs Aliádos–Airport hourly from 00:30 to 05:30.
Trains
There is no passenger-train strike for Sunday. CP's onboard bar and catering staff are reported to begin an open-ended strike on Monday, 31 August – this affects onboard bars, not the trains themselves.
Practical
Bolhão market closed today, tourist offices and police open into the evening
Markets & visitor services
The Mercado do Bolhão on Rua Formosa is closed Sundays and holidays, market and restaurants alike, though the exterior shops set their own hours. Tourist offices keep June–September Sunday hours of 09:00–19:00 at the Sé / Torre Medieval on Calçada D. Pedro Pitões, the Porto Welcome Center at Praça Almeida Garrett 27 near São Bento, and Trindade metro station; the airport desk runs 09:00–18:00 daily, closed at lunch.
Police & emergencies
PSP Tourism Police, at Praça de Pedro Nunes 16, is open Sundays 08:00–23:59. The iPoint Ribeira kiosk runs daily 12:00–19:00 from 15 July to 15 September. For a duty pharmacy, call the national line 1400.
