In an old Reid family estate - Quinta do Bom Sucesso - about 3 kilometers from Funchal city center, is the Botanical Garden, one of Madeira's most famous tourist attractions. The garden has an area of ​​35,000 square meters. It lies at an altitude of between 200 and 350 meters. The garden has more than 2,500 plants from all continents, especially The garden is divided into five areas:

Be careful, don't confuse them - there are two cable cars in Funchal. The best known runs from Funchal to the town of Monte at an altitude of approx. 550 meters. From there you can take another cable car ( Jardim Botânico cable car line) to continue the short distance to the botanical garden.

The Jardim Botânico cable car line (not to be confused with the maritime railway line from Funchal) is located in Quinta do Bom Sucesso and runs from the Botanical Garden to Monte.

With a distance of 1,600 meters and a height of between 10 and 100 meters above ground, has 12 cabins with a capacity of 8 people each and can transport about 400 people per hour.
