Where exactly is the old town of Lisbon located?
The historic old town of Lisbon and the districts around the castle " Castelo de São Jorge ". These are the oldest districts in the city. Large areas of the city around the castle were destroyed in the devastating earthquake of 1755. During the subsequent reconstruction, a completely new district was created there, the so-called Baixa Pombalina.
What does BAIXA mean? Due to its location, Lisbon is also called the city of 7 hills. It's constantly going up and down. Hence these names (upper and lower town). In everyday life, the historic old town of Lisbon is generally referred to as Baixa by the population

Airport transfer - how to take the subway to the old town of Lisbon
The airport is connected by the red line. If you go to the old town you have to change once (in Alameda) to the green line.
The one-way ticket costs 1.50 euros plus 50 cents for the reloadable electronic card (if you don't already have one). Tickets can be purchased from the machines. Day tickets are certainly the best option for those who want to use the subway several times a day.
The subway is directly at Terminal 1. There are also ticket machines there. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes.
The subway works from 6:30 in the morning to 1:00 at night.
